IS IT THE WAY IN? OR, IS IT THE WAY OUT?

Mathew 15: 7 – 20

When I finally got married to my lovely wife, she was surprised that when she went to do the laundry, found out that a guy has more than the usual two states of clothing.
To her clothes were either clean or they were dirty.
She didn't know that to a man, there are varying degrees of clothing cleanliness.
Guys have clean clothes, dirty clothes, and a couple of degrees of cleanliness called “clirty.”
If I am to be truthful, she had the right idea. It was I who had the wrong attitude.
My question is, what makes my clothes become dirty?
A shirt can stay on a hanger for years and remain clean, but as soon as I wear it for a few minutes it becomes dirty. The only conclusion that I can draw from this information is that it is “me” that makes the clothes both clean, and dirty.

7 Frauds! Isaiah’s prophecy of you hit the bull’s-eye:
8 These people make a big show of saying the right thing, but their heart isn’t in it.
9 They act like they’re worshiping me, but they don’t mean it. They just use me as a cover for teaching whatever suits their fancy."
10 He then called the crowd together and said, "Listen, and take this to heart.
11 It’s not what you swallow that pollutes your life, but what you vomit up."

Clothing covers our nakedness. When we first put them on, to the world, we appear to be fresh and clean. But, after we wear them for awhile, we no longer seem to be as fresh as we once were.

17 Don’t you know that anything that is swallowed works its way through the intestines and is finally defecated?
18 But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart.
19 It’s from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing.
20 That’s what pollutes. Eating or not eating certain foods, washing or not washing your hands—that’s neither here nor there."

So in other words, it's not what we put on to cover our sins, it's the sin itself that makes us , and our clothing dirty.
I'm not saying that we are to walk around nude, but, we do need to live a cleaner life.
