Galatians 4: 1 – 7
In the old western movies, just when the good guys were about to be over run by the bad guys or the Indians, the calvary would arrive just in the nick of time to save everybody.
I have had that experience with God.
As I am sure that I am not the only one to have gone through this, we all know what it's like to be at the end of our ropes with no hope of rescue. That's when God shows up. Right on time. Just in the nick of time to save us.
I have a friend who uses this old chestnut; “God is old, and He's slow, but, he always is n time.”
True words.
Having established the fact that God arrives on time, we have to wonder why He sent his son when He did.
The timing could not have been better. There was a common language, ease of travel, good roads, and Pax Romana (Roman peace) plus the fact that the world was aching for a savior.
Explaining how God comes to the rescue, Paul wrote about it in the book of Galatians.
4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law,
5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."
7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.
Clear and simple. Not only that, it makes sense. The Bible tells us plainly that if we put our faith in God, He will be there for us when we need him most, riding to the rescue just like in the movies.
