GO AND DO LIKEWISE.

Luke 10: 30 – 37

Okay.
We all know the story of the good Samaritan.
And, we know that whole love your neighbor as yourself thing.
But, nobody talks about why the other guys in the parable just walked by.
In the early sixties there was a case in New York City. A woman named Kitty Genovese was coming home to her apartment, when she was brutally beaten to death in the court yard of her building.
She screamed for help until the end.
When the police investigated the incident, they interviewed all the residents of the apartments facing the courtyard. They discovered that every resident witnessed the beating. When asked, why they didn't help the woman, the common response was that they didn't want to get involved.
That's it.
Just that simple.
They didn't want to get involved.
All it would have taken was for one person to be involved.
The proof of this was the Samaritan.
He made the difference in whether the man lived or died.

36 "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
37 The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

We need to do that likewise thing.
We have to be able to reach out to those in need of our help.
Time to get involved, time to get in the game.
