GOD'S WORK

John 6: 25 – 33

We are an arrogant bunch.
Our egos can give us delusions of grandeur.
Just as the disciples thought that they were able to do the work of God, and after so many centuries, so do we.

28 ¶ Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

We go about thinking that there has to be more too it than that.
God uses people to do his work doesn't he?
If that's true, then how can God get His work get done without us?
After all we are so busy keeping all things together, that we need something to show others that we are in control here.

30 So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’"
32 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

We really have no clue. Only God can do the works of God!
We can't see the forest for the trees.
Jesus stands right there. Right in front of us. And yet, we still want signs so that we may believe.
Where is that bread from heaven that the disciples asked for?

35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

(DOPE SLAP)

Our job is to follow God faithfully wherever he has us, then get out of the way so that God will show his works plainly.
Time to go to work.
